What We Collect

DinnerTable collects only the information needed to generate meal plans that are safe for your family:

  • Account information — email address and password for authentication.
  • Family profile — household member names, ages, dietary conditions, allergen severities, and food preferences.
  • Meal plan data — generated plans, grocery lists, cooking history, and feedback ratings.
  • Device information — platform, OS version, and push notification tokens (if you opt in to notifications).

How We Use Your Data

  • Generate personalized, allergen-safe meal plans for your family.
  • Build grocery lists and track cooking history to improve future recommendations.
  • Send push notifications about your meal plan (only if you opt in).
  • Improve the app through aggregated, anonymized usage analytics.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your account or family data with advertisers. Your family's dietary and health information is never used for marketing or advertising. Advertising on our public website is described under “Advertising on Our Website” below and never involves your account data.

Allergen Data

We treat allergen and dietary condition data with the highest sensitivity. This data is used exclusively for meal plan safety filtering and is stored with the same protections as other personal health information. Allergen severity levels (anaphylactic, autoimmune, household standard, intolerance, suspected) are enforced server-side and cannot be overridden by preference scoring.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL) with row-level security policies that ensure each family can only access their own data. All connections use TLS encryption. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device.

Offline Data

DinnerTable caches meal plan data locally on your device for offline access. This data stays on your device and syncs back to the server when connectivity is restored. You can clear local data at any time by signing out.

Third-Party Services

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Expo — push notification delivery.
  • Google AdSense— display advertising on our public website only (see “Advertising on Our Website” below).

The DinnerTable app contains no advertising and no advertising SDKs, and we do not work with data brokers. Advertising appears only on our public website, as described below.

Advertising on Our Website

Public recipe and browsing pages on dinnertable.app display advertising served by Google AdSense. This applies to the website only — the DinnerTable app has no ads.

  • Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve and measure ads, including ads personalized to your interests based on visits to this and other websites. Where consent is required (for example in the EEA and UK), ads are shown in line with your consent choices.
  • Ad serving never receives your DinnerTable account data. Your email, family profile, dietary conditions, and allergen information are not shared with Google or any advertiser.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings and read how Google uses data from partner sites at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Children's Privacy

DinnerTable is a family app. Child profiles are created and managed by a parent or guardian. Children do not have independent accounts and cannot sign up on their own. We collect children's names, ages, and dietary information solely to generate safe meal plans.

Your Rights

  • Access — request a copy of all data we store about your family.
  • Correction— update or correct your family's information at any time through the app.
  • Deletion — request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data.
  • Export — download your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@dinnertable.app.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email. Continued use of DinnerTable after changes constitutes acceptance.
