Method

Warm taco shells or tortillas in the oven at 300°F for 5 minutes, or wrap in a damp paper towel and microwave 30 seconds.

Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until no pink remains, about 7 minutes.

Drain excess fat, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the pan.

Add chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and oregano. Stir to coat the beef.

Add 1/3 cup water and stir. Simmer 2-3 minutes until the liquid is mostly absorbed and the beef is saucy.
