Ingredients
- Beef Sirloin (thinly sliced)1 1/4 lbs
- Yellow Onions (thinly sliced)2
- Dashi Granules (hondashi)1 tsp
- Soy Sauce3 tbsp
- Mirin3 tbsp
- Sugar1 tbsp
- Japanese Short Grain Rice2 cups
- Pickled Ginger (beni shoga) (optional)2 tbsp
Method

Dissolve dashi granules in water. Add soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and sake. Bring to a simmer.

Add sliced onions and cook for 5 minutes until softened.

Layer thinly sliced beef into the simmering broth. Cook for 5-7 minutes until just done.

Serve over hot steamed rice. Top with pickled ginger and a soft-poached egg if desired.
